Demolition and tear-out

Demolition and tear-out

Bathrooms, old fencing, Hardie board and other siding, decks and sheds: taken out carefully, so the new work starts on solid ground.

Demolition and tear-out, done the carpenter's way.

Good demolition is controlled. The goal is to remove what has to go, protect what stays, and find out what is hiding underneath, like rotted framing behind siding, water damage under a bathroom floor, or a rotten post at the base of a fence.

Coastline Innovations handles tear-out as the first step of a rebuild, and as a job on its own when something simply needs to come out. Bathroom demolition often leads straight into a bathroom remodel, and old fence or siding removal into the new install.

What we tear out

BathroomsTile, tubs, showers, vanities and fixtures removed so the room is ready for a remodel.
Old fencingPanels, posts and footings removed before a new fence goes in.
Hardie board and sidingHardie board and other old siding stripped so damage underneath can be found and fixed.
Decks and shedsSmall structures taken down and hauled off.
Damaged sectionsRotted framing and trim cut out cleanly for repair.

Good to know

  • Utilities: water, power and other lines are located and shut off where needed before anything comes out.
  • Permits: some demolition needs a permit. Check with your city or county.
  • Bathrooms: tear-out shows what is under the floor and behind the walls, so the remodel plan can account for it.
  • Haul-off: ask how debris will be removed and where it goes.

Questions

Demolition and tear-out FAQ

Do you only demolish, or also rebuild?

Both. Most tear-outs lead straight into a new fence, new siding or a bathroom remodel, and doing both keeps one person responsible for the result.

Can you demo a bathroom and leave the rest of the house usable?

That is the goal on every job. Tell us what else is going on in the house in the estimate form so the work can be planned around it.
