Pole barns and outbuildings
Open-sided shelters and enclosed buildings for equipment, vehicles and storage, built on set posts with trusses, metal panels and roll-up doors.
Pole barns, done the carpenter's way.
A pole barn starts with posts set in the ground and ends with a building that has to stand up to Florida wind and rain for a long time. In between come the trusses, the purlins and girts, the metal roofing and wall panels, the trim, and the doors you open every day.
The buildings shown on this page are Coastline Innovations work: open-sided shelters over a fresh slab, and enclosed two-bay buildings with roll-up doors and a walk-in door.
Building options
What to decide early
- Use: vehicles, equipment, a workshop or storage decides the size, height and doors.
- Site: access for concrete and materials, drainage and setbacks from property lines.
- Permits: outbuildings usually need a building permit and plans that meet local wind requirements.
- Power and light: decide before walls go up if you want outlets or lighting inside.

Questions
Pole barns FAQ
What size pole barn do I need?
Start with what goes inside. Measure the vehicles or equipment, add room to walk around them and open doors, and tell us in the estimate form. Brad will help settle the final size.
Open or enclosed?
Open-sided buildings cost less and work well for shade and cover. Enclosed buildings add security and keep wind-driven rain out.
What about the slab?
Every building needs the right base under it. Tell us about your site in the estimate form and Brad will talk through the slab and apron with you.
